YES, YOU CAN COOK THE PERFECT BURRITO

A burrito is a sort of Mexican wrap, often made of a flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans and other delectable toppings before being rolled up and served hot. Contrary to what we’ve come to know and love today, Northern Mexican burritos are often smaller than their counterparts in the US.

The appeal of burritos is that you can tailor them to your preferences, but the three essential components must always be salsa, beans, and protein (either meat or vegetarian). Additionally, vegetables, rice, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese are typically included in the mixture. Here’s how to cook the perfect burrito, as you would find at Milwalky Taco.

Ingredients

Beans

Black beans and pinto beans, particularly refried ones, are the two most popular bean kinds used in burritos. To save time, get a tin of Refried Beans.

Protein

The most common tortilla fillings are chicken or beef, but you can also choose pork or vegetarian filling.

Salsa

A tasty salsa may elevate your burrito to new heights. To add more flavor, why not combine hot and mild salsa from an assortment of Chunky Salsa?

Cheese

You can use any cheese, but it must be shredded for a burrito. Stick with the conventional Cheddar cheese, choose oozy mozzarella, or try some creamy Monterey Jack cheese for a variation.

Rice

Although it isn’t a must, adding rice to your tortilla can increase its filling power and give it a little more texture. Use brown rice instead if you want extra nutrients.

Avocado

Another alternative item to add for a little bit of extra flavor and taste is avocado. You can add a ripe avocado to the mixture by slicing it into tidy pieces, and guacamole could provide a bit extra flavor. If you like it hotter, add jalapeño and season with salt.

Preparation

  • Pierce the box of soft flour tortillas and reheat it in the microwave for 35 to 45 seconds.
  • Apply a thin layer of refried beans over each tortilla, nearly to the edge, using the back of a spoon—refried beans aid in securing the contents and tortillas together.
  • Once more, spreading with the back of a spoon, add cooked rice, leaving a gap of about 3 cm from the tortilla’s edge.
  • Add sliced avocado in the shape of a rectangular “column” on top of the rice. Meanwhile, fresh foods like lettuce, red cabbage, or tomatoes are excellent choices.
  • To arrange it on top of the column of avocado, use a fork to shred the leftover chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  • Alternatively, you can cook uncooked chicken by adding it to a big frying pan with oil over medium heat and cooking it until the outside is golden and the meat is well cooked.
  • Put a bit of salsa on top of the chicken.
  • On top of the salsa, scatter some grated chicken.
  • As an option, you can top with your preferred coriander, chilies, radishes, or lime wedges.

Finally, roll up the burrito and serve with crisps, tortilla chips, or even French fries. For a more authentic style, wrap the burrito in foil – perfect for packed lunches or on the go.
