Shredded cheese is one of the most economical cheeses for me, and it is very versatile and convenient to use. Shredded cheese boosts the flavour of countless dishes like pizzas, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, casseroles, sauces, mac and cheese and even salads.
Mexican shred blend is a unique blend of four kinds of cheese – Monterey Jack, Queso Quesadilla, Asadero, and Natural cheddar. It is designed to melt on anything hot or cold as it handles efficiencies perfectly.
However, it is not so convenient to slide between burgers. Using shredded cheese in our burgers and sandwiches will enhance the flavour of both the dishes, there is no doubt, but when using shredded cheese, it can be quite messy for us.
So, there are two very simple methods for turning the shredded cheese into “slices” that are perfect for burgers and sandwiches.
Let’s start with the first method, and this is the simplest way to turn your shredded cheese into slices, not many things needed, and less time-consuming.
Take a baking plate, butter it, or place a sheet of parchment paper on it. Pile shredded cheese, making it a square or circle as per your need and using about 1/3 cups of shredded cheese per pile.
You can place about four piles at a time, but make sure you have enough space between the piles of shredded cheeses, and they should not touch each other after they melt.
Place the baking dish into the microwave, and microwave on full power gradually increasing in 10 seconds and watch out carefully if the cheese is melting. In 30-40 seconds, your shredded cheese slices will be ready.
Then, put the parchment paper in the fridge and chill for about 30 minutes. After it is chilled, pull the cheese slices carefully and use it in your burger and sandwiches, these slices melt beautifully. You can also store these slices in the Ziploc bag in the freezer and use them gradually.
The second method is a bit trickier than the first one, and you will need shredded cheese, gelatine, and some milk.
Start with mixing gelatine in water to soak and boil the milk and add gelatine. Now, blend shredded cheese and milk in a food processor.
Mix it until the cheese becomes smooth and make sure the consistency is neither too thick nor too thin.
Take a container and line it with a plastic wrap. Pour the cheese into the container and move it to the fridge to chill overnight.
When you take the container out, the cheese will be solidified into a similar texture, like individually wrapped burger cheese. Now you can slice the shredded cheese block and use it in your burger.
To store the cheese for the future, wrap it again in the same container and place it in the freezer.
